This was a fun one. I used a gel press, bubble wrap, and gold acrylic paint to jazz up the silhouettes. He’s having an amazing day among those huge flowers. Or she, if you’re a top-hat-loving gal.

There’s nothing like black for popping out a bold plaid. I wish there were plaid shirts that looked like this.

I was about to use some plain black to the right of the embossed typewriter type when I remembered some patterned paper scraps I had from Paper Rose Studio. The pad it came from is called Inky Splash. I love that pad, and I love how it peps up this card more than plain black would. It lends a more storied look to the design.

I stamped the sentiment before I designed the card here, and it turned out to be very apt. I’d never done this before, and I was nervous about the results. Starting with an ink ombré I’d stamped over with a floral print, I wanted to try collaging the flower on, but I was afraid of messing up the ombré. “It’s just ink,” I told myself at last, “You can make more. Try what you’re afraid of. You won’t know if it works unless you do it.” So I did. And got enough steam from that to try applying texture paste in a bright green over the whole shebang. Never have I made a card like this. But I love it and want to make more like it. Try the ideas you fear. It just may be great.
